Meet the Artist

Karen Schremmer

Karen Schremmer is a mixed-media artist based in St. Petersburg, Florida. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art Painting from the University of South Florida and has spent her life blending traditional and digital techniques to create bold, emotionally resonant works.

Her art is a fusion of painting, collage, photography, and intricate crystal detailing, often finished with layers of resin and mirrors that interact with light and movement. Influenced by pop culture, texture, and the vibrant energy of Florida, Karen’s work celebrates color as a powerful emotional tool.

At the heart of her practice is happiness. Karen creates with the belief that joy can be a choice, whether it comes from memories, nature, favorite objects, or the simple power of color. Some pieces tell stories; others exist purely to evoke a feeling. Sometimes happiness is loud, sometimes it’s quiet, but it’s always present.

For Karen, art isn’t just something to be seen, it’s something to be felt. Her work invites viewers into moments of warmth, wonder, and connection, offering a reminder of how much beauty can live in the everyday.

Inside the Studio

Every piece is made with care, combining both traditional and digital painting techniques to create something truly unique. While Karen doesn’t offer art classes, she’s hands-on in every part of the creative process, making sure each artwork reflects her style and attention to detail. Her goal is more than just making art, it’s about turning ideas into something you can feel, capturing emotion, and creating pieces that connect with people.

  • Every artwork begins as a digital painting, carefully crafted without the use of photographs.
  • Once complete, the artwork is printed on canvas and stretched over a handmade wooden panel.
  • Karen then enhances each piece with hand-painted details, spray paint, and handmade 3D objects sculpted from resin and clay.
  • Authentic branded figurines are carefully integrated into the composition to complement the artistic vision.
  • A final resin coating enhances depth, vibrancy, and durability, with hand-placed rhinestones adding a signature touch.
